This sinkhole, located off the road near 462 6th St. in the Goodyear Village, Cedartown, was reported to the Cedartown City Road Department this morning.

Crews said that the opening at the top was initially only three feet wide, but soon fell away to reveal that the huge hole had filled with ground water.

The hole appeared to be between 15 and 20 feet across, and more than 9 feet deep. The city cites recent heavy rains as the cause, and expects to fill it in by this afternoon.
