Two former Cedartown High School football players are finding success on the gridiron this fall. 2009 graduates Brandon Brown and Demetrius Green have worked their way up to receive playing time this season on the gridiron for Lenoir-Rhyne despite being freshmen.

Green, a 5-foot-11, 190-pounder, is playing outside linebacker for the Bears. Brown, a 6-foot-2, 190-pounder, is lining up at wide receiver for the Hickory, N.C. school.

Brown has played in five games this season. He has caught four passes for 86 yards with a long of 37.

Brown did all his damage this year in one game. On Oct. 24 against a good Mars Hill team, Brown caught all of four of his passes to lead the team in receptions and receiving yards that day.

Demetrius Green has played in six games this year. He has 13 solo tackles and 14 assists for a total of 27 stops. He has four tackles for loss, causing opposing teams to lose a total of 12 yards. Green has two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry.

One of Green’s best games of the season came last week against Newberry. Green recorded six tackles in that contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne is 4-6 on the season with one game remaining. The Bears started the season 3-1 and was actually 4-2 at one point this year before losing four straight games.

The Bears will visit Catawba this Saturday to finish the year.
